Gold Medal At MAADI
We had the race live streaming into Form Classes on March 25 so we could all watch Charlie Squire and Joel Birdling take on the very best U15 rowing pairs in the country.

Bruce was tipping them as a very strong chance, and these two young men led from the start and weren’t letting any other team steal their thunder. A Maadi Cup gold medal is a very precious win - only the third ever Maadi gold for a St John’s College crew.

No sport demands more time and commitment than rowing - from parents and coaches as well as students. That gold medal win for Birdling and Squire is the result of many hours of training on and off the water, early morning starts, constant eating, listening to coaches and building a determination and confidence to be the best. Well done boys and coaches, we are all very proud of you!

Another notable success was our U15 quad who placed 5th in an A final - also marking them as a crew with considerable strength and talent. All rowers should be prod of their efforts, with 3 B finals and 4 c finals also achieved.
